St. John's World Missions in North America

This is the Navajo Evalgelical Lutheran Mission logo. The Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission is located in Arizona. There are many Missionaries and Volunteers who are hard at work supporting the House of Prayer Lutheran Church and the Najavo Lutheran School. There is much activity including the food distribution program, the thrift shop, the gift shop (the only outlet in the area for local artists) and the After School Bible Club. The President of the Navajo Nation is a Christian.  His prayer is for a mighty work of God among all the Navajo people.

The Navajo Lutheran Church has a website.. see it by clicking here.

Our church is most involved with the sponsorship of students at the Navajo Lutheran School (we participate in the sponsorship of a school class) and the thrift shop on the mission.  Church members will continue to support the Mission through the collection of labels from food products of the Campbell's company to be redeemed for school vans. For more information on how you can help click here. See an article from the Mission Newsletter by clicking here.

Prayer requests:
  • Pray for the Navajo leaders as they make decisions about the school and their Navajo nation.
  • Pray for sufficient staff for the elementary school.
  • Pray for the 90% of the Navajo people who do not believe in Christ and/or are strongly opposed to Christianity.

Bevin and Judy are missionaries associated with Youth With A Mission (YWAM).. They  are based in Colorado and in charge of a support team for missionaries in the "10-40" window. They develop and implement strategies for frontline workers and background teams, and provide prayer, friendship support, and training.

Prayer requests:

  • Pray for God's unique expression in the church to be released - Col. 1:9
  • Pray for those laboring on both the front line and the home front. (Bevin and Judy try to use the military ratio of 60 support people for every missionary on the front line) - 1 Cor. 15:58
  • Pray that our brothers and sisters will have the freedom to worship God corporately and to study His word.

The Carlisle/West Shore Area Trucker and Traveler Ministry is an organization dedicated to providing support to drivers and travelers in need as they pass through the area. They work out of the Carlisle (Texaco) Travel Plaza. St. John's supports them by sending funds annually as well as helping at fund raisers such as their Cookie Project where they distribute cookies to truck drivers during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The Rev. Daniel Lehigh is the chaplain.

The Fruitbelt Farmworker Christian Ministry (of Adams, Cumberland and Franklin counties) is based in Biglerville, PA. They provide ministry to migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families. Their most important work is sharing Jesus Christ and His love by visiting the migrant homes and employer housing. They participate in many community outreach events. They are supported by St. John's with money towards their budget and occasional  contributions of clothing, health kits, and blankets.  The Rev. Roddy Runyan is their director.

Prayer requests:

  • Growers who have had to deal with the plum pox virus and other hazards.
  • For the farmworkers struggling financially during the "off" season.
  • That the Fruitbelt Ministry leadership and staff continue to know and do God's will.

The Protestant Campus Ministry at Lock Haven University provides an ecumenical presence on campus and in the spirit of unity with the other campus ministries give witness to the love of God through Jesus Christ. PCM vows to bring the churches of the area and the Lock Haven Univeristy together in the Christian faith. They are also supported by seven local Lock Haven churches. They provide many fellowship activities for students including transportation to Sunday worship. We choose to support this ministry with an anual contribution. Additional information can be obtained by clicking here for their website.
